National Audit of Pulmonary Hypertension for Scotland
Data Provision Notice to provide NHS Digital with data relating to pulmonary hypertension service activity undertaken in Scotland. This forms part of the National Audit of Pulmonary Hypertension (NAPH) which operates across Great Britain.
Overview
National Services Scotland (NSS) has requested NHS Digital to collect and analyse data relating to pulmonary hypertension service activity undertaken in Scotland. This forms part of the National Audit of Pulmonary Hypertension (NAPH) which operates across Great Britain.
The audit measures the quality of care provided to people referred to pulmonary hypertension services in England (including patients referred from Wales) and Scotland, by answering a number of questions:
- are pulmonary hypertension services appropriate?
- are patients receiving the right treatment in a timely manner?
- what are the outcomes for patients with pulmonary hypertension?
The audit data allows clinical teams to review clinical performance so that they can:
- identify where improvements in the quality of care can be made
- demonstrate improvements in the level of care
- assure patients of the quality of services.
NHS Digital provides analytical services and creates the annual report and supplementary documentation.
Scope of the collection
This Notice is served on:
- Golden Jubilee National Hospital, Clydebank
as the Scottish pulmonary hypertension centre.
Period of the collection
This is a continuous collection. Data has been entered by Scotland since the start of the collection in 2009, under a different legal basis.
An extract is taken in March and May to produce data quality reports which are returned to the provider, a final extract is taken in June from which full analysis is undertaken to produce the annual report and supporting documents. These are published by NHS Digital in October each year.
