Personal Health Budgets

Data Provision Notice to require the submission from all Clinical Commissioning Groups (and successor bodies) of data about the numbers of individuals with personal health budgets.

This Data Provision Notice sets out a requirement for data to be submitted by Clinical Commissioning Groups (CCGs) to NHS Digital.

In accordance with the Health and Care Act 2022, as of 1 July 2022, CCGs are abolished and their statutory obligations will be managed by Integrated Care Boards. These obligations include the continuing requirement to submit data to NHS Digital as set out in this Data Provision Notice.


Overview

Data collected under this Notice will be used to monitor the numbers of individuals with personal health budgets.

Data will provide evidence to assess progress towards meeting one of the aims of the NHS Long Term Plan (section 1.41): We will accelerate the roll out of Personal Health Budgets to give people greater choice and control over how care is planned and delivered ... Up to 200,000 people will benefit from a personal health budget by 2023/24. 


Scope

This Notice is served on:

  • all Clinical Commissioning Groups and successor bodies (Integrated Care Boards).

Period

This collection started in April 2017. 

Data is submitted on a quarterly basis (on the first working day of each quarter for the previous quarter’s data). A full submission timetable is available on the NHS Digital Data Collections website.
