Short and Long Term (SALT) Data Return 2023-24 guidance
Purpose
This guidance gives the specifications for the Short and Long Term Return (SALT).
Over the years the collection has taken account of a range of feedback and there have been revisions to plans at various points. Therefore, it is important to consider these materials even if you have viewed earlier versions in some detail.
Overview
The SALT data collection is a set of measures co-produced with stakeholders. It has two main sections, relating to requests for social care support and provision of short term support (described in the guidance as STS measures) and service users and carers receiving eligible support (described as LTS measures).
This SALT document should be read alongside the Adult Social Care collections Data Dictionary, which establishes a set of data standards and time frames.
The ASC Data Dictionary describes Primary Support Reasons (PSRs) and support settings.
