Deleting appointments
Sometimes appointment slots will need to be removed from the Appointment Book because they are no longer available for patients to use. These appointments may or may not already have patients booked into them and they may need to be removed at short notice, such as if the healthcare professional is off sick.
Actions requested from practices
Because the data is collected weekly, practices are encouraged to do weekly audits to ensure that appointments are cancelled and deleted as appropriate and removed from the Appointment Book. Ideally, any necessary cancellation and deletion should be done on the same day or within that working week. If an appointment has been booked, it is preferred that the slot be ‘cancelled’ rather than deleted as deleted slots do not always get extracted correctly as part of the collection.
