1-year rolling unadjusted percentage of all cancers diagnosed at stages 1 and 2
All stageable cancers are included within this section, this includes the 18 cancer sites/groups in Table 1 plus other stageable cancer sites defined according to the UKIACR.
Between January 2013 to March 2020, there was a relatively stable trend in the 1-year rolling unadjusted percentage of cancers diagnosed at stages 1 and 2 in England, peaking at 55% in July to September 2018 and January to March 2020.
During April to June 2020, the unadjusted percentage of all cancers diagnosed at stages 1 and 2 fell to 47% before recovering to 50% in July to September 2020 and 53% in October to December 2020. These are the three lowest figures since 2013.
Across 21 Cancer Alliances, between January to March 2020 and April to June 2020, the decrease in the unadjusted percentage ranged from 4 to 20 percentage points. The Cancer Alliance which recorded the largest decrease, North Central London, has the smallest population and is much younger than the country as a whole. Excluding this Cancer Alliance reduces the range to 4 to 13 percentage points.
Those Cancer Alliances who fell most in Spring 2020 typically saw the largest increase in unadjusted percentage of all cancers diagnosed at stages 1 and 2 in the rest of 2020.
