These data are a count of written complaints made by or on behalf of patients about NHS services in England. They consist of data collections for complaints about NHS Hospital and Community Health Services (secondary care) and complaints about primary care (GP and Dental) services.
Hospital and Community Health Services (HCHS) secondary care complaints are collected via the KO41a collection. From 2015-16 to 2021-22 these data were collected and published for quarterly reporting periods. From 2022-23 these data are collected and published on an annual basis.
Primary care (GP and Dental) complaints are also collected and published annually via the KO41b collection.
