Impact of Cyber Incident on MHSDS data submissions
Unfortunately, a number of providers of MHSDS data have been affected by a recent cyber incident. NHS Digital has actively worked with these providers to understand how best to resolve any data submission issues that may have occurred as a result. We also continue to encourage affected providers to reach out to [email protected] as well as their regional Emergency Preparedness, Resilience and Response (EPRR) teams.
As of Performance June 2022, the impact on monthly MHSDS data appears to be quite limited. There may be a greater impact on subsequent months’ publications so we will monitor this closely and introduce contingency measures if required. No changes to submission processes will be introduced while service providers are actively dealing with this issue.
Providers will also have the opportunity to resubmit MHSDS data for any month between April 2022 and February 2023, up until the final 2022/23 multiple submission window model (MSWM) deadline in May 2023, and this should serve to further mitigate the issue. This will then feed into the 'End of Year Final' data made available shortly afterwards.
When interpreting the Performance June 2022 data, it is also important to be aware that there was a double bank holiday for the Platinum Jubilee, and so fewer working days in June 2022 than usual.

Error affecting single breakdown within the Performance June 2022 Restrictive Interventions CSV file
An error has been identified in the data contained within the ‘England; Restrictive Intervention Type; Age Group; Upper Ethnicity’ breakdown of the MHSDS Monthly: Performance June 2022 Restrictive Interventions CSV file. This resulted in incorrect figures being shown for measures MHS76 and MHS96, and it also caused the omission of figures for MHS77.
The error has now been rectified and corrected figures are available within the MHSDS Monthly: Performance June 2022 Restrictive Interventions V2 CSV file.
NHS Digital apologises for any inconvenience.

Resolution of two historic issues affecting MHSDS Monthly: Time Series Data for Selected MHSDS Measures, April 2016 to Performance June 2022 CSV File
Two historic issues have been identified affecting the MHSDS Monthly: Time Series Data for Selected MHSDS Measures, April 2016 to Performance June 2022 CSV File.
- End of Year Final April and May 2022 data for ED87e (Proportion of referrals with eating disorders categorized as routine cases entering treatment within four weeks in RP, aged 0-18) was found to be incorrect.
- End of Year Final June 2022 data for Children and Young People with an Eating Disorder metrics (those in the ED85 - ED90d range) contained some categories within the 'Breakdown' column. Rows which should have been assigned a Breakdown category of 'Provider' or 'STP' were erroneously assigned a category of 'CCG - GP Practice or Residence'.
Both issues have now been resolved and revised data are available within MHSDS Monthly: Time Series Data for Selected MHSDS Measures, April 2016 to Performance June 2022 V2 under 'Resources'. NHS Digital apologises for any inconvenience caused.
