Primary Care Workforce Quarterly Update, 31 December 2023, Experimental Statistics

For the first time in this release, the total FTE recorded in the ARRS claims portal by each PCN (for Approved claims only) for each job role is presented in the Collated DPC full-time equivalent (FTE) by PCN and job role CSV (field name ARRS_CLAIMS_FTE).

It has been included to offer greater transparency of the collated figure, the calculation of which it feeds (see Methodology), as well as to encourage PCNs to ensure their NWRS records are up to date and reflect the FTE being claimed for via ARRS. For this reason, the FTE recorded in NWRS for PCN staff only has also been introduced to the CSV (field name PCN_NWRS_TOTAL), to allow for a like-for-like comparison.

The job role Digital and Transformation Lead was recently added to the National Workforce Reporting Service (NWRS) and is included for the first time in the Primary Care Workforce FTE (NWRS only) tables in this publication.

Though this role falls under the scope of ARRS, it is not included in the collated figure since it is an Admin/non-clinical role and the collated figure relates only to Direct Patient Care staff.
