Position assignment expiry issue resolved

Full access to all Care Identity services has now been restored.

On 25 February 2025, multiple sites reported multiple users experiencing a loss of access to services that require certain roles when using their smartcard to authenticate.

This issue was resolved on the evening of the same day, 25 February. No further action is required.

Affected users were unable to access specific services via smartcard authentication due to expired position assignments. NHS England technical teams developed a fix which reassigned the incorrectly expired position assignments and workgroup assignments for all affected users.

We apologise for any inconvenience this issue caused.
