Care Identity Management release 7.48

Planned maintenance release on 13 August 2025.

Release summary

Care Identity Management release 7.48 goes live on 13 August 2025, subject to final testing.

This release reintroduces facial recognition functionality to self-service smartcard unlock. If a user has a photo of their face on their Care Identity profile, they can now use their device's camera to scan their live facial image and match it to their profile photo to unlock their smartcard. Read step-by-step guidance of this process.

This functionality was originally added in release 7.32, but temporarily suspended with release 7.33 while we fixed some issues identified with this new feature.

We expect there to be no downtime during the release.
