Summary of onboarding activities

These activities are listed in an approximate chronological order as a guide only, to be tailored according to local working practices and processes. Please also refer to the supplier checklist available through live services.

  1. Assign key resources to the project including:
    • primary contact (for example project manager)
    • technical lead and/or developer(s)
    • information governance lead
    • clinical lead
  2. All resources to review onboarding documentation.
  3. Confirm delivery approach.
  4. Access NHS Digital environments (TKW) if it has not been done before. 
  5. Start product development.
  6. Start the activities listed in the SCAL
  7. Start any applicable local clinical safety assessments or processes.
  8. Test the product's development against reference implementation.  
  9. Complete the conformance testing ( using the NHS Digital test environment).
  10.  Update the business processes and train users.
  11.  Obtain all necessary local approvals for go-live (for example clinical safety, board approvals).
  12. Sign the relevant NHS Digital commercial documents.
  13. Start the implementation process with NHS Digital.
