DBS check information - issue with passport issue date field

The passport issue date is not displayed or is incorrect within the DBS check information screen, on the employer portal.

The passport issue date is required for completing a new criminal record check for staff members.

Identity service providers rely on text recognition to extract the passport issue date from the passport biometric page. Depending on the passport, this may not be possible or can be incorrect.

The identity service provider is aware of the issue and they released an update on 7 July 2024 to reduce the number of these errors. Newly added documents should benefit from this update.

For UK and Irish nationals that have been provided or have shared a right to work credential, check the passport issue date on the biometric passport page image.

For non-UK/Irish nationals, you will need to contact the staff member to email a scan of their passport biometric page.
