Downloading your access key
How to get and use the access key that you'll need to log in to the Digital Staff Passport employee portal.
When your employer has confirmed your identity, you'll be sent an email via NHS Digital Staff Passport to download an access key, which is your login for your employer's employee self-service portal.
If you accidently delete your access key or lose your mobile without backing up your Microsoft Authenticator app, you can contact HR to re-issue you with a new access key.
Find the email from NHS Digital Staff Passport with a link to download your access key. Below you can see examples of the type of email you may have received.

Note: if the only link you see in your email is to log in (the middle example above), that link will also take you to the right place to get your access key.
Next you'll see some brief instructions on the process. Select 'Continue'.
You'll see a message that a 6-digit security code will be sent to your phone. Select 'Continue' to generate the security code.
Enter your 6-digit code and select 'Continue'.
Note: if nothing happens when you select to continue at this point, read this troubleshooting guide.
You'll now see a QR code.
Scan the QR code using the Microsoft Authenticator app on your smartphone. To get to the scan function, select 'Verified IDs' in the bottom-right of the screen, then the scan icon in the top-right of the screen.
Alternatively, if you’re using your smartphone rather than a computer to complete this process, you can select the green button to connect to Microsoft Authenticator app.
In your Microsoft Authenticator digital wallet, select 'Add'.
Return to your web or mobile browser. The browser will refresh and you'll be able to log in to the employee service portal.
