This document does not contain an exhaustive list of impacts, actions or contacts. Sub ICB Location or former CCGs will need to consider fully their own uses for ODS codes.

The recommended approach

Identify

All systems utilised by the Sub ICB Location / former CCG - use the reconfiguration checklist to assist you.

Analyse

Does the system consume ODS data?

Does the system use organisation name, primary role or non primary roles associated to ODS codes?

Does the system maintain an organisation name via other means (such as not via ODS data)?

Does the system consume ODS data via Spine, ODS' API, XML file or legacy CSV files?

Is the system affected by CCG boundary changes (if applicable to your CCG)?

Prioritise

How is the organisation name used by the system, for example. is it exposed to NHS staff or patients?

Does the system require activity to be migrated prior to 1 July 2022 to support a boundary change (where applicable)? For example. do services need to be migrated in e-RS?

Categorise

System not impacted by organisation name change or boundary changes (if applicable).

System impacted - need to schedule update of organisation name or migration activity related to a boundary change (if applicable).

System impacted - update to organisation name scheduled and preparatory migration activity related to a boundary change complete (if applicable).

About this graphic

Primary Roles and Non-Primary Roles are attributes of an ODS code that system suppliers can consume and utilise or validate against.

A Primary Role describes the fundamental nature of an entity and its remit. Non-Primary Roles provide further information about an organisation’s function or remit.

All CCG codes with retain a ‘CCG’ Primary Role. However, a new Non-Primary Role of ‘Sub ICB Location’ will be applied to all CCG codes from 1 July 2022, whilst they are temporarily retained during the transition year.

If system suppliers expose the Primary Role, they may wish to expose the new Non-Primary Role from 1 July 2022 instead, to reflect that it is a Sub ICB Location.

About this graphic

Relationship changes between Sub ICB Location ODS codes and the codes of child organisations (such as GP practices), to reflect approved boundary changes, will be visible in the Spine, Care Identity Service (CIS) and ODS API by 6 July 2022.

They will be visible in a CSV files by 6 July 2022 and in the ODS XML files by 29 July 2022.
