Part of Using RStudio in the NHS England Secure Data Environment
Output your results
Exported results, including data tables, charts and graphs can be downloaded and saved to your computer.
Depending on the terms agreed in your Data Sharing Agreement (DSA), you may be required to have your results reviewed by our Safe Output Service before they can be downloaded.
More information on DSAs, visit Access the Secure Data Environment (Data Sharing Agreements)
Reviewing results
If your DSA requires your exported results to be reviewed before download, your request will be processed by our Safe Output Service. You will receive an email when your request has been processed.
Your request may be rejected if it does not meet our disclosure control guidance. If your results do not meet our disclosure control rules, we will contact you to explain the reasons why your results could not be approved.
To export your results, you must follow the Output your results guidance.
Exporting your results
To export results:
1. Select the file to export.
2. The exported file will download to the Downloads folder on your virtual desktop.
If you are required to submit your results through our Output service, you will need to follow the Output your Results guidance.
Exporting results to HTML using R Markdown
Exporting your results as an HTML file using R Markdown will enable you to include comments in your output. This will provide more information for the Safe Output Service team and help ensure that your download is processed swiftly and in line with disclosure control rules.
Any data table, charts and graphs contained within the HTML file will be accessible after downloading the file. The HTML file will act as a container for both the export results and the contextual information.
For further information on R Markdown, refer to the RStudio R Markdown website.
To create an HTML file:
1. Select File.
2. Select New File and then R Markdown from the drop-down menus.
3. Enter a name for the file and ensure the HTML radio button is selected.
4. Click OK.
5. Add your results and comments as required to provide contextual information.
6. Select Knit and then Knit to HTML from the drop-down menu.
7. The exported file will download to the Downloads folder on your virtual desktop.
If you are required to submit your results through our Output service, you will need to follow the Output your Results guidance.
