Summary

This report presents statistics on women’s smoking status at time of delivery, at Clinical Commissioning Group (CCG), Clinical Commissioning Region, Sustainability and Transformation Partnership (STP), and national levels. This release includes provisional data for quarter 1 of 2021-22.

COVID-19 and the production of statistics. Due to the coronavirus pandemic (COVID-19) disruption, the quality and coverage of some of our statistics has been affected, for example by an increase in non-submissions for some datasets. Therefore, data should be interpreted with care over the COVID-19 period. Please see DQ table 1 for details of coverage issues given by submitters for this collection.

Highlights

Key facts are for quarter 1, 2021-22

9.1% of mothers were known to be smokers at the time of delivery

A 0.2 percentage point increase from quarter 4 of 2020-21 (8.9%), and above the national ambition of 6% or less.

15 out of 104 submitting CCGs met the national ambition of 6% or less
