GP practice system GP Connect appointment slot configuration

Slots have not been made available

It is possible that when GP connect appointment slots are set up, they are visible within the GP practice system but cannot be seen by consumer organisations. This can be due to minor configuration issues.

Review the following:
  • check an individual slot to ensure it is GP Connect bookable (refer to GP practice system guidance
  • does the user associated with the slot have a suitable practitioner role or have they been changed or removed?
  • has the GP practice applied a slot embargo? If yes, the number of appointments shown in Appointment Checker may not reflect an accurate account of what appointments are actually released by the practice
  • have the correct filters been applied to the slots? (This only relates to EMIS system users). Refer to GP practice system guidance to review and resolve if required
  • are slot names clear and easy for users to understand?

Be vigilant of the slot names that are offered within GP Connect. Free text can be used when slot names are assigned to appointments for GP Connect and will be displayed as entered in the GP system. The user should be able to understand the purpose of the appointment by reading the slot name. Review the session name and slot type details to ensure only relevant GP Connect bookable appointments are being offered. This should help to prevent inappropriate bookings by 111 or feedback regarding lack of appointment availability.

Example slot seen in Appointment Checker

Appointment date Session name Start time Duration Slot type Mode of appointment Practitioner

Has the GP practice made adjustments or introduced new clinics within the GP practice system?

This relates to TPP SystmOne users.

Report the issue to the GP practice system supplier and request SystmOne Trainer support to:
  • remove all GP Connect clinics and slot types etc. from the system (if required, save clinic/slot details in advance)
  • recreate existing, new clinics and slot types on the system
  • reload the 111 clinics and appointments to the system
  • check whether published appointments are visible using GP Connect Appointment Checker

GP Connect appointment slot configuration is correct, what can I do next?

Appointment slots are available but no booking activity is seen.

In some instances, there may be insufficient demand to show appointments booked on a regular basis.

A practice with a small list size may have appointment slots showing but still appear on a no activity report.
