Current chapter – Using the cloud portal to make a data submission

Making a data submission

Once you have your Access IDB or XML file ready, you can log onto SDCS Cloud and make a data submission. When you are logged on you should be taken to the SCDS in the cloud page.  From here you have options of submitting a file or seeing the dashboard.

You can use the organisation field to select the organisation you are submitting the data for.

Select the collection field to choose the collection type you are submitting for example the CSDS,  MHSDS or IAPT data collection.

The reporting period is the month you are submitting the data for.

Use the browse button to browse for the file you are uploading on your computer.

Use the upload button to upload the file you want to submit.

You then should be presented with an uploading screen like the image below. This screen will update you about the progress of your submission and provide you with some instructions on the navigation that can take place.

Data quality reports available from the portal

When a data submission is processed, the result will be either an accepted submission or a rejected submission. For a rejected submission there will be reasons for the file being rejected, reasons why records might have been rejected, and possibly warning messages about fields that appear to have unexpected values entered. A processed data submission can also have had some of its records rejected, as well as having warnings about the data.

To see these messages, the portal will generate a Validation file containing the reject messages, and a data quality file containing the warning messages. These files can be downloaded from the Summary Reports section of the Submission Summary page. This submission summary page can be seen by clicking the View link on the dashboard page.
