Cancelling a referral

In order to cancel a referral, the referrer must log into e-RS as a referring clinician and search for the patient’s NHS number or UBRN.

In order to cancel a referral, the referrer must log into e-RS as a referring clinician and search for the patient’s NHS number or UBRN.


1. A list of outstanding referrals will be displayed below the patient details. Click on the UBRN to access the ‘Actions’ menu

2. Select ‘Cancel Request’ from the options and a new page will load showing a summary of the referral.


3. Select a reason for the cancellation from the ‘reason’ dropdown (this is mandatory) and enter any comments in the field underneath before clicking ‘Cancel Request’.

4. An alert will be displayed, confirm the cancellation by clicking ‘Yes’.
