Current chapter – Changes to the Master Provider and Site List

Adding new sites

Where a patient is in a hospital site that is not on the MPSL, the data submitter should inform the NHS England Data Collections team

You should include
  • the name of the hospital provider
  • ODS code of hospital provider
  • name of hospital site (including unit or service name where applicable)
  • ODS code of hospital site
  • hospital site address
  • hospital site postcode

The data submitter may need to consult with the provider to confirm the correct ODS code for the site or provision that the AT patient is in. If no ODS code is available, the provider will need to contact ODS and request that one is issued (only the provider can request ODS codes).

When there is no ODS code is immediately available for either the provider or site (for example because the site is new and an ODS has not yet been allocated), we will allocate a temporary code.

We will add the provider or site details to the MPSL and inform the data submitter once this is complete so that patient details can be entered or updated on Assuring Transformation.

Temporary provider or site codes in the MPSL will be replaced with ODS codes as these become available. Data submitters will be informed when updates occur so that they are able to update patient records in the Clinical Audit Platform.

Changing site details on the MPSL

If you are aware of providers, sites or ODS codes which are incorrect on the MPSL (for example the ODS code has been closed, the provider has changed) or if you are aware of sites which are permanently closed email the NHS England Data Collections team.
