My new trust is asking me to share credentials I do not have

What to do if you've signed up to Digital Staff Passport with your new trust, but the credentials they've asked for are not in your Microsoft Authenticator digital wallet.

The issue

You've signed up to Digital Staff Passport with your new trust and they are asking you to share credentials, but you cannot find what they're asking for in your Microsoft Authenticator digital wallet.

Likely cause

You may have signed up for the first time to Digital Staff Passport with the trust that you're moving to, rather than your current trust.

In this scenario, you are moving from Trust A to Trust B. Normally your first-time sign-up to Digital Staff Passport would be with Trust A, because they have your employment information, such as identity, professional registration, DBS and occupational health credentials.

Instead, you've signed up for Trust B. This is not a problem but you'll need to follow the instructions below to share your credentials.

What to do

  1. Make sure you’ve downloaded the access key provided by Trust B to your Microsoft Authenticator digital wallet (see guidance).
  2. Next, log in to Trust B’s employee self-service portal and add the identity and right to work (if you are UK / Irish citizen) credential(s) to your Microsoft Authenticator digital wallet (see guidance).
  3. Next, sign up with Trust A, using the identity credential you've received from Trust B (see guidance).
  4. Next, while logged in to Trust A's employee self-service portal, request the credentials that Trust B is asking you for (see guidance).
  5. Finally, when you receive the credentials from Trust A, share them with Trust B (see guidance).
